Before You Begin:

  1. We highly recommend that you make a backup copy of documents, spreadsheets, emails, email contacts, pictures, music, videos, application installers and other files on your hard disk. Note that if the type of installation chosen is to install a new copy of Windows (Windows 7), the entire contents of the hard disk will be deleted. To make a backup copy, you may copy your files to DVD, another hard disk, other equipment in the network, etc.
  2. For the upgrade options in which the contents of the hard disk are not deleted, we strongly recommend that the steps below are followed before starting the upgrade procedure:
    • Print these instructions to serve as a roadmap during the upgrade process.
    • Check with the suppliers if programs installed in your equipment are compatible with Windows 7.
    • Verify that the hardware requirements (CPU, memory, etc.) meet the recommended requirements for Windows 7.
      • 1 GHz processor or faster, 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64)
      • 1 GB of RAM (32 bits) / 2 GB of RAM (64 bit)
      • 16 GB of available disk space (32 bit) / 20 GB (64 bit)
      • DirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM driver version 1.0 or higher (all Itautec equipment listed as compatible with Windows 7 meet this requirement)
      • Compatible DVD driver
      • Internet access (fees may apply)
        NOTE: Some Windows 7 features, such as the ability to watch and record live TV, BitLocker or touch navigation may require advanced or additional hardware. The  Windows XP mode  requires an additional 1 GB of RAM and 15 GB of available disk space, and a processor capable of hardware virtualization, Intel VT or AMD-V enabled.
    • Run Windows Update and install the latest Service Pack, in addition to all critical and recommended updates.
    • Download the drivers and utilities listed in these instructions and make a copy on media (CD, DVD, Pen Drive, etc.). Note that during the upgrade process you may lose the ability to access the Internet before you install the drivers and applications listed in the instructions.
    • Have at hand the original Master CD of the equipment and the Windows 7 upgrade kit.
  3. Make the following downloads via www.itautec.com  (Drivers & Download)
    • Webcam Application [required]
      • Unzip the CAMERA.zip file, run the SETUP.EXE file and follow the installation steps.
    • TouchPad Application [required]
      • Unzip the TOUCHPAD ZIP file, run the SETUP.EXE file and follow the installation steps.
    • Hotkey application and driver [required]
      • Uninstall the "Intel® PROSet / Wireless WiFi" software  (uninstall should be done through the Control Panel - Programs - Uninstall a Program)
  4. Before proceeding with the installation without reformatting the hard disk, uninstall the following applications:
    • Uninstall the "Intel® PROSet / Wireless WiFi" software  (uninstall should be done through the Control Panel - Programs - Uninstall a Program)
    • Uninstall the "Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba" software (uninstall should be done through the Control Panel – Programs - Uninstall a Program)
  5. Limitations:
    • Versions of Nero Essentials will not be supported in Windows 7.
    • AVG 8.0 is not compatible with Windows 7. It should be upgraded to version 8.5 or later. Go to www.avgbrasil.com.br/itautec  and follow the instructions to upgrade.
    • Equipment without PowerDVD or WinDVD will not have the functionality of DVD copy in the Windows 7 Starter version. To copy DVDs using the Windows 7 version, the user must purchase any software compatible with Windows 7 available on the market.
  6. Note that:
    • The upgrade information contained herein relate to the original configuration of the equipment (hardware and software).
    • The cost of Internet access is the responsibility of the user.
    • Support for applications and devices installed by users is the responsibility of their respective manufacturers.

Updating a existing installation of Windows Vista to Windows 7

This equipment was never sold with Windows Vista, we do not have this option for the W7010.

Updating a Windows XP installation to Windows 7

            Can not upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 without loss of the contents of the hard disk. Thus, to install Windows 7 with Windows XP pre-installed, must be made Reinstallation of equipment with Windows 7.
ALL THE HD CONTENT WILL BE HARD OFF. MAKE SURE TO HAVE A BACKUP OF ALL FILES THAT YOU WANT TO KEEP.

Upgrading an installation of Windows XP to Windows 7

You cannot upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 without loss of the contents of the hard disk. Thus, to install Windows 7 with Windows XP pre-installed, you must replace the operating system with Windows 7.
DURING THIS PROCESS, THE CONTENTS OF THE HARD DISK WILL BE DELETED.  MAKE SURE TO MAKE A COPY OF ALL FILES THAT YOU WANT TO KEEP.

 

Replacing Windows XP with Windows 7

  1. DURING THIS PROCESS, THE CONTENTS OF THE HARD DISK WILL BE DELETED.  MAKE SURE TO HAVE A COPY OF ALL FILES THAT YOU WANT TO KEEP.
  2. Turn on the equipment; insert the Windows 7 installation DVD in the drive.
  3. When the message "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD" appears, press the spacebar and wait Windows Installer 7 to be loaded.
  4. On the installer home screen (language, date / time format and keyboard), click the NEXT button.
  5. Click the "Install now" button.
  6. Read the license terms and, if you agree, click "I accept the license terms" and the NEXT button to continue installation.
  7. Click the "Custom (advanced)" option.
  8. Click on "Drive options", select each of the partitions on the disk on which you will perform the Windows 7 installation (typically is Disk 0), click "Delete" and confirm that operation. Repeat the process until there is no longer any partitions on this disk.
  9.  Click the NEXT button.
  10. Wait while the installation completes. This process may take more than one hour.
  11. Wait for the automatic restart of equipment.
  12. When prompted, enter the information in user and computer name. For example, "John" and "John-PC". Click NEXT.
  13. Enter your password and a password hint (required fields). For example, "Joao063049" and "I and Susana’s birthday" (for increased security, do not choose obvious hints).
  14. Enter the product key (it can be found in the Windows 7 upgrade kit that you received).
  15. On the security settings window, click "Use recommended settings".
  16. Adjust the time zone, date and time and click NEXT.
  17. If your equipment has a WiFi network adapter, you may select the desired network and configure it. If you want to make it later, click "Ignore".
  18. Wait for Windows 7 to start.
  19. To finish your installation:
    • Install the drivers and applications indicated at the beginning of this procedure.
    • Reinstall the applications that you want to keep (PowerDVD, Power2Go, DVD Suite, Microsoft Office, etc.).
    • Restore the backup of your documents.
    • Activate your copy of Windows 7 via the Internet (if this is not done within 30 days, your copy may have its functionality limited and / or blocked).
    • We recommend that you run Windows Update to ensure that all the latest product updates are installed.

Upgrading an existing installation of Windows Vista to Windows 7

  1. Start the equipment with the current operating system (Windows Vista).
  2. Make sure that the applications listed in “Before You Begin” - item 4 - have been uninstalled.
  3. Insert the Windows 7 installation DVD in the drive.
  4. In the Autoplay window, click “Run setup.exe”.
  5. Click “Install now”.  
  6. Wait while the installation completes.
  7. At the “Get important updates for installation” window, we recommend that the option “Go on line to get the latest updates for installation" be selected (you need an active Internet connection). Wait while the updates are being downloaded. Otherwise, select the other option and continue with the operating system upgrade.
  8. Read the license terms and, if you agree, click “I accept the license terms” and then click the NEXT button to continue.
  9. Click the “Upgrade” option and wait for the installation to be completed.
  10. On the “Compatibility Report” window, click NEXT.
    • If the Compatibility Report indicates a program that is not compatible with Windows 7, remove it before proceeding. To do so, cancel the installation, remove the program(s) not compatible and restart the installation.
  11. Wait while the installation completes. This process may take more than one hour.
  12. Enter the product key (the 25-character alphanumeric key can be found in the Windows 7 upgrade kit that you received). 
  13. On the security settings window, click “Use recommended settings”.
  14. Adjust the time zone, date and time and click NEXT to continue.
  15. If your equipment has a WiFi network adapter, you may select the desired network and configure it. However, we recommend configuring the network later, click “Ignore”.
  16. Wait for Windows 7 to start.
    • Install the “SCM.ZIP” (OSD) application previously downloaded from the Itautec website.
    • Install the “BT.ZIP” (Bluetooth) application previously downloaded from the Itautec website.
  17. To finish your installation:
    • You must Activate your new copy of Windows 7 via the Internet (if  this is not done in 30 days, your copy may have its limited functionality and / or blocked).
    • We recommend that Windows Update be run to ensure that all the latest product updates are installed.
    • If you have an antivirus installed, we recommend it to be updated.

  1. Start the equipment with the current operating system (Windows Vista).
  2. Make sure that the applications listed in “Before You Begin” - item 4 - have been uninstalled.
  3. Insert the Windows 7 installation DVD in the drive.
  4. In the Autoplay window, click “Run setup.exe”.
  5. Click “Install now”.  
  6. Wait while the installation completes.
  7. At the “Get important updates for installation” window, we recommend that the option “Go on line to get the latest updates for installation" be selected (you need an active Internet connection). Wait while the updates are being downloaded. Otherwise, select the other option and continue with the operating system upgrade.
  8. Read the license terms and, if you agree, click “I accept the license terms” and then click the NEXT button to continue.
  9. Click the “Upgrade” option and wait for the installation to be completed.
  10. On the “Compatibility Report” window, click NEXT.

    • Reinstall the applications that you want to keep (PowerDVD, Power2Go, DVD Suite, Microsoft Office, etc.).
    • Restore the backup of your documents.

Limited functionality to perform the installation of Windows 7

  • The shortcut keys do not work and do not have visual feedback on the LCD screen (On Screen), they do not have drivers for Windows 7.

    • Compatible DVD driver

      d. Run Windows Update and install the latest Service Pack, in addition to all critical and recommended updates.
      e. Download the drivers and utilities listed in these instructions and make a copy on media (CD, DVD, Pen Drive, etc.). Note that during the upgrade process you may lose the ability to access the Internet before you install the drivers and applications listed in the instructions.
  • f. Have at hand the original Master CD of the equipment and the Windows 7 upgrade kit.

3- Make the following downloads via www.itautec.com (área de Drivers & Download)

  • a. Fingerprint Driver [required]
    • Unzip the FPRINT.ZIP file, run the SETUP.EXE file and follow the installation steps.
  • Security Application [required]
    • Unzip the WAVE_N8630.ZIP file, run the STM-G1-V1_00_32.EXE file and follow the installation steps.
  • Mobile Utility Application [required]
    • Unzip the MOBILEUTILITY.ZIP file, run the SETUP.EXE file and follow the installation steps.

4- Before proceeding with the installation without reformatting the hard disk, uninstall the following applications:

  • a. Uninstall the “Intel® PROSet / Wireless WiFi” software (uninstall should be done through the Control Panel – Programs - Uninstall a Program)
  • b. Uninstall the “Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba” software (uninstall should be done through the Control Panel – Programs - Uninstall a Program)

5- Limitations:

  • Versions of Nero Essentials will not be supported in Windows 7.
  • AVG 8.0 is not compatible with Windows 7. It should be upgraded to version 8.5 or later. Go to www.avgbrasil.com.br/itautec and follow the instructions to upgrade.
  • Equipment without PowerDVD or WinDVD will not have the functionality of DVD copy in the Windows 7 Starter version. To copy DVDs using the Windows 7 version, the user must purchase any software compatible with Windows 7 available on the market.

Upgrading an existing installation of Windows Vista to Windows 7

1. Start the equipment with the current operating system (Windows Vista).

2. Make sure that the applications listed in “Before You Begin” - item 4 - have been uninstalled.

3. Insert the Windows 7 installation DVD in the drive.

4. In the Autoplay window, click “Run setup.exe”.

5. Click “Install now”.

6. Wait while the installation completes.

7. At the “Get important updates for installation” window, we recommend that the option “Go on line to get the latest updates for installation" be selected (you need an active Internet connection). Wait while the updates are being downloaded. Otherwise, select the other option and continue with the operating system upgrade.

8. Read the license terms and, if you agree, click “I accept the license terms” and then click the NEXT button to continue.

9. Click the “Upgrade” option and wait for the installation to be completed.

10. On the “Compatibility Report” window, click NEXT.

  • a. If the Compatibility Report indicates a program that is not compatible with Windows 7, remove it before proceeding. To do so, cancel the installation, remove the program(s) not compatible and restart the installation.

11. Wait while the installation completes. This process may take more than one hour.

12. Enter the product key (the 25-character alphanumeric key can be found in the Windows 7 upgrade kit that you received).

13. On the security settings window, click “Use recommended settings”.

14. Adjust the time zone, date and time and click NEXT to continue.

15. If your equipment has a WiFi network adapter, you may select the desired network and configure it. However, we recommend configuring the network later, click “Ignore”.

16. Wait for Windows 7 to start.

17. Install the wireless card driver. This update should be manual:

  • Click on Device Manager and open the list of Network Adapters.
  • Right click on the driver for WiFi network (wireless).
  • Select the Update Driver Software option.
  • Click on Browse my Computer for Driver Software.

  • Press OK and Next.

19. To finish your installation:

  • You must Activate your new copy of Windows 7 via the Internet (if this is not done in 30 days, your copy may have its limited functionality and / or blocked).

Upgrading an installation of Windows XP to Windows 7

You cannot upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 without loss of the contents of the hard disk. Thus, to install Windows 7 with Windows XP pre-installed, you must replace the operating system with Windows 7.

Upgrading an existing installation of Windows Vista to Windows 7

  1. Start the equipment with the current operating system (Windows Vista).
  2. Make sure that the applications listed in “Before You Begin” - item 4 - have been uninstalled.
  3. Insert the Windows 7 installation DVD in the drive.
  4. In the Autoplay window, click “Run setup.exe”.
  5. Click “Install now”.  
  6. Wait while the installation completes.
  7. At the “Get important updates for installation” window, we recommend that the option “Go on line to get the latest updates for installation" be selected (you need an active Internet connection). Wait while the updates are being downloaded. Otherwise, select the other option and continue with the operating system upgrade.
  8. Read the license terms and, if you agree, click “I accept the license terms” and then click the NEXT button to continue.
  9. Click the “Upgrade” option and wait for the installation to be completed.
  10. On the “Compatibility Report” window, click NEXT.
    • If the Compatibility Report indicates a program that is not compatible with Windows 7, remove it before proceeding. To do so, cancel the installation, remove the program(s) not compatible and restart the installation.
  11. Wait while the installation completes. This process may take more than one hour.
  12. Enter the product key (the 25-character alphanumeric key can be found in the Windows 7 upgrade kit that you received). 
  13. On the security settings window, click “Use recommended settings”.
  14. Adjust the time zone, date and time and click NEXT to continue.
  15. If your equipment has a WiFi network adapter, you may select the desired network and configure it. However, we recommend configuring the network later, click “Ignore”.
  16. Wait for Windows 7 to start.

  22. Install the “Bluetooth.zip” application previously downloaded from the Itautec website.
  23. To finish your installation:
    • Activate your copy of Windows 7 via the Internet (if this is not done within 30 days, your copy may have its functionality limited and / or blocked).
      We recommend that you run Windows Update to ensure that all the latest product updates are installed.If you have an antivirus installed, we recommend that it be updated.

Upgrading an installation of Windows XP to Windows 7

You cannot upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 without loss of the contents of the hard disk. Thus, to install Windows 7 with Windows XP pre-installed, you must replace the operating system with Windows 7.
DURING THIS PROCESS, THE CONTENTS OF THE HARD DISK WILL BE DELETED.  MAKE SURE TO MAKE A COPY OF ALL FILES THAT YOU WANT TO KEEP.

 

Replacing Windows XP with Windows 7

  1. DURING THIS PROCESS, THE CONTENTS OF THE HARD DISK WILL BE DELETED.  MAKE SURE TO HAVE A COPY OF ALL FILES THAT YOU WANT TO KEEP.

  3. When the message “Press any key to boot from CD or DVD” appears, press the spacebar and wait Windows Installer 7 to be loaded.
  4. On the installer home screen (language, date / time format and keyboard), click the NEXT button.
  5. Click the “Install now” button.
  6. Read the license terms and, if you agree, click “I accept the license terms” and the NEXT button to continue installation.
  7. Click the “Custom (advanced)” option.
  8. Click on “Drive options”, select each of the partitions on the disk on which you will perform the Windows 7 installation (typically is Disk 0), click "Delete" and confirm that operation. Repeat the process until there is no longer any partitions on this disk.
  9.  Click the NEXT button.
  10. Wait while the installation completes. This process may take more than one hour.
  11. Wait for the automatic restart of equipment.
  12. When prompted, enter the information in user and computer name. For example, “John” and "John-PC". Click NEXT.
  13. Enter your password and a password hint (required fields). For example, “Joao063049” and "I and Susana’s birthday" (for increased security, do not choose obvious hints).
  14. Enter the product key (it can be found in the Windows 7 upgrade kit that you received).
  15. On the security settings window, click “Use recommended settings”.
  16. Adjust the time zone, date and time and click NEXT.

      • Unzip the Camera.zip file, run the SETUP.EXE file from the directory “Camera\Bison_non_UVC\Driver” and follow the installation steps.

      • Run the SETUP.EXE file from the directory “Camera\Bison_non_UVC\On&OFF_Status” and follow the installation steps.
    • Aplicativo de TouchPad [requerido]
      • Unzip the  TouchPad.zip file, run the SETUP.EXE file and follow the installation steps.
    • Silent Mode Application [required]
      • Unzip the SilentMode.zip file, run the SETUP.EXE file and follow the installation steps.
  4. Before proceeding with the installation without reformatting the hard disk, uninstall the following applications:
    • Uninstall the “Power Manager” application (uninstall should be done through the Control Panel – Programs - Uninstall a Program).
  5. Limitations:
    • Versions of Nero Essentials will not be supported in Windows 7.
    • AVG 8.0 is not compatible with Windows 7. It should be upgraded to version 8.5 or later. Go to www.avgbrasil.com.br/itautec and follow the instructions to upgrade.
    • Equipment without PowerDVD or WinDVD will not have the functionality of DVD copy in the Windows 7 Starter version. To copy DVDs using the Windows 7 version, the user must purchase any software compatible with Windows 7 available on the market.

Upgrading an existing installation of Windows Vista to Windows 7

  1. Start the equipment with the current operating system (Windows Vista).
  2. Make sure that the applications listed in Before You Begin - item 4 - have been uninstalled.
  3. Insert the Windows 7 installation DVD in the drive.
  4. In the Autoplay window, click Run setup.exe.
  5. Click Install now.
  6. Wait while the installation completes.
  7. At the Get important updates for installation window, we recommend that the option Go on line to get the latest updates for installation" be selected (you need an active Internet connection). Wait while the updates are being downloaded. Otherwise, select the other option and continue with the operating system upgrade.
  8. Read the license terms and, if you agree, click I accept the license terms and then click the NEXT button to continue.
  9. Click the Upgrade option and wait for the installation to be completed.
  10. On the Compatibility Report window, click NEXT.
    • If the Compatibility Report indicates a program that is not compatible with Windows 7, remove it before proceeding. To do so, cancel the installation, remove the program(s) not compatible and restart the installation.
  11. Wait while the installation completes. This process may take more than one hour.
  12. Enter the product key (the 25-character alphanumeric key can be found in the Windows 7 upgrade kit that you received).
  13. On the security settings window, click Use recommended settings.
  14. Adjust the time zone, date and time and click NEXT to continue.
  15. If your equipment has a WiFi network adapter, you may select the desired network and configure it. However, we recommend configuring the network later, click Ignore.
  16. Wait for Windows 7 to start.
  17. To finish your installation:
    • Activate your copy of Windows 7 via the Internet (if this is not done within 30 days, your copy may have its functionality limited and / or blocked).
    • We recommend that you run Windows Update to ensure that all the latest product updates are installed.
    • If you have an antivirus installed, we recommend that it be updated.

 


Upgrading an installation of Windows XP to Windows 7

You cannot upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 without loss of the contents of the hard disk. Thus, to install Windows 7 with Windows XP pre-installed, you must replace the operating system with Windows 7.
DURING THIS PROCESS, THE CONTENTS OF THE HARD DISK WILL BE DELETED. MAKE SURE TO MAKE A COPY OF ALL FILES THAT YOU WANT TO KEEP.

 

Replacing Windows XP with Windows 7

  2. Turn on the equipment; insert the Windows 7 installation DVD in the drive.
  3. When the message Press any key to boot from CD or DVD appears, press the spacebar and wait Windows Installer 7 to be loaded.
  4. On the installer home screen (language, date / time format and keyboard), click the NEXT button.
  5. Click the Install now button.
  6. Read the license terms and, if you agree, click I accept the license terms and the NEXT button to continue installation.
  7. Click the Custom (advanced) option.
  8. Click on Drive options, select each of the partitions on the disk on which you will perform the Windows 7 installation (typically is Disk 0), click "Delete" and confirm that operation. Repeat the process until there is no longer any partitions on this disk.
  9. Click the NEXT button.
  10. Wait while the installation completes. This process may take more than one hour.
  11. Wait for the automatic restart of equipment.
  12. When prompted, enter the information in user and computer name. For example, John and "John-PC". Click NEXT.
  13. Enter your password and a password hint (required fields). For example, Joao063049 and "I and Susanas birthday" (for increased security, do not choose obvious hints).
  14. Enter the product key (it can be found in the Windows 7 upgrade kit that you received).
  15. On the security settings window, click Use recommended settings.
  16. Adjust the time zone, date and time and click NEXT.
  17. If your equipment has a WiFi network adapter, you may select the desired network and configure it. If you want to make it later, click Ignore.
  18. Wait for Windows 7 to start.
  19. To finish your installation:
    • Install the drivers listed at the beginning of these instructions.
    • Reinstall the applications that you want to keep (PowerDVD, Power2Go, DVD Suite, Microsoft Office, etc.).
    • Restore the backup of your documents.
    • Activate your copy of Windows 7 via the Internet (if this is not done within 30 days, your copy may have its functionality limited and / or blocked).
    • We recommend that you run Windows Update to ensure that all the latest product updates are installed.

Before You Begin:

  1. We highly recommend that you make a backup copy of documents, spreadsheets, emails, email contacts, pictures, music, videos, application installers and other files on your hard disk.   9. NOTE: Some Windows 7 features, such as the ability to watch and record live TV, BitLocker or touch navigation may require advanced or additional hardware. The Windows XP mode requires an additional 1 GB of RAM and 15 GB of available disk space, and a processor capable of hardware virtualization, Intel VT or AMD-V enabled.
    • Run Windows Update and install the latest Service Pack, in addition to all critical and recommended updates.

  12. Limitations:
    • Versions of Nero Essentials will not be supported in Windows 7.

    • Equipment without PowerDVD or WinDVD will not have the functionality of DVD copy in the Windows 7 Starter version. To copy DVDs using the Windows 7 version, the user must purchase any software compatible with Windows 7 available on the market.
