INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY - Itautec brand of personal computers, notebooks and servers; AUTOMATION - Banking, with Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and cashier terminals; and Retail, with point-of-sale terminals (POS), fiscal printers, self-service terminals, and software such as the Itautec System of Retail Automation (Sistema Itautec de Automação Comercial - SIAC), Complete Solutions for Electronic Payments (Soluções Completas para Pagamento Eletrônico - SCOPE) and Itautec Queue Management System (Sistema Itautec de Gestão de Atendimento - SIGA); SERVICES - Outsourcing, technical support, infrastructure and installations; DISTRIBUTION - Value Added distributor - VAD of IBM, Apple, Avaya, Extreme, Novell, NetApp, and Pineapp products.
Itautec's headquarters are located in the city of São Paulo. In 2007, Itautec transferred its industrial operations to the city of Jundiaí, located 49 km from the capital city. This move resulted in a 35% expansion of computer production capacity, a 150% expansion of automation products manufacturing capacity, and the set up and beginning of the manufacturing of safes used in self-service terminals.
The company has five subsidiaries abroad (Argentina, Spain, United States, Mexico and Portugal) for the sale of Itautec products as well as provision of technical support services. Itautec also operates through Tallard subsidiaries located in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, the United States, Mexico and Venezuela, with capacity to provide services to the entire Latin America as well as to countries in Europe and Africa. Tallard is the largest IBM, Avaya and Apple distributor for Latin America and is recognized as the Brazilian IT company most investing abroad, according to the Brazilian Transnational 2007 ranking, prepared by Fundação Dom Cabral (Brazil) and Columbia University.
Itautec has 5,347 direct employees and 390 indirect employees, 34 service units and seven IT laboratories located in Brazil, covering 2.7 thousand Brazilian cities, a coverage that assures streamlined and efficient customer service. In order to keep up with the state-of-the-art technologies and provide excellence in meeting customers' needs, Itautec invests in Research and Development as well as in the modernization of its units and production lines. The company is ISO 9001 certified in recognition of its global quality standards, and ISO 14001 certified for its environmental management system. It complies with global guidelines in regard to product manufacturing, such as Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (Weee).
In 2007, Itautec was highly acknowledged for avoiding the use of heavy metals in its production process and ranked 2nd in FIESP's Environmental Excellence Award (São Paulo Federation of Industries) and 5th in the Brazilian Environmental Benchmarking. Itautec is controlled by Itaúsa-Investimentos Itaú S.A., the second largest private Brazilian group, which also operates in areas such as finance (Banco Itaú), timber, bathroom fixtures and sanitary ware (Duratex), and in the chemical products (Elekeiroz). Since 1985, its shares have been listed for trading on the São Paulo Stock Exchange (BOVESPA) and since 2001, its capital stock has been made up solely by common shares, which entitle voting rights to all shareholders. At the end of 2007, its market value was R$679.3 million, R$85.1 million higher than in 2006.
In 2007, Itautec totaled 364.9 thousand units shipped, of which 38.0 thousand relative to banking and retail automation and self-service equipments, and 326.9 thousand to information technology products. The consolidated net income for the period was R$100.6 million. Gross revenues from sales and services achieved R$1,702.3 million and net revenues achieved R$1,524.0 million. Total assets added up to R$1,069.6 million and net equity was R$423.1 million.
